Dr. Mayura Loganathan MD, MScCH, is a dedicated family physician with a passion for providing comprehensive healthcare to individuals and families, currently practicing with the Mount Sinai Academic Family Health Team. With over 10 years of experience in clinical practice, Dr. Loganathan has become a trusted figure in the medical community, known for his compassionate approach and commitment to patient-centred care.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Loganathan is involved with medical education. He holds a Master’s in Science and Community Health (MScCH) and is a clinical lecturer with the University of Toronto’s Department of Family and Community Medicine, teaching both family medicine residents and medical students.
Dr. Loganathan is also the lead physician for an interdisciplinary home visiting program, a recipient of the province of Ontario’s AFHTO ‘Bright Lights’ award, that provides both primary care and palliative care to frail and homebound patients across the City of Toronto.
Dr. Aisha Shakoor, a dedicated family physician based in Pickering, Ontario, completed her family medicine residency at Western Michigan University. She currently practices at West Durham Family Health Team, where her commitment lies in offering comprehensive and compassionate care to patients of all ages. Dr. Shakoor is also a board member of the West Durham Family Health Team.
Dr. Shakoor is known for her patient-centered approach, taking the time to listen to her patients’ concerns and providing personalized treatment plans. Her areas of expertise include preventive care and chronic disease management, and she is also an advocate for mental health awareness, incorporating mental wellness into her holistic approach to patient care.
Prior to practicing medicine, Dr Neil D’Souza was a radiation therapist providing compassionate care to cancer patients at Sunnybrook’s Odette Cancer Centre in Toronto. He later completed his Master of Health Science Degree in Health Administration (MHSc) at the University of Toronto’s Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME), facilitating his leadership role in Quality and Patient safety for the Radiation Oncology Program at Sunnybrook’s Odette Cancer Centre. Dr D’Souza then went on to complete medical school and his Family Medicine residency at the University of Toronto, where he was Co-Chief Resident, followed by an Emergency Medicine Fellowship at McMaster University (CCFP-EM).
Dr D’Souza currently practices Emergency at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto, treating a vast array of acute medical conditions and providing care for the city’s most vulnerable populations. He is also very involved in addiction medicine, looking after patients suffering from various substance use issues, both in outpatient practice and at Michael Garron’s Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) program. Dr D’Souza also has a special interest in preventative medicine through nutrition and weight management, leading to his Diplomate designation from the American Board of Obesity Medicine (DABOM).
Besides clinical practice, Dr D’Souza is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto (DFCM-UofT), where he teaches medical students and resident physicians. He has published articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has lectured locally, nationally and internationally.
Nisa Karan-Aravinth is an Entrepreneur & a Global Safety, Sustainability and Risk leader. Nisa is recognized as one of Canada’s Top Women in Safety for 2023. She has also been appointed by an Order-in-Council by the Minister of Labour, Chair of Cabinet and signed by the Governor General to a Provincial Appeals Tribunal, employing her expertise towards administrative law, fair & just adjudication and regulatory compliance. In her professional career, Nisa has held several executive roles, including, serving as Director to a large regional healthcare network and as a Consultant to the World Health Organization’s ‘Global Plan of Action – Workers Health’ and most recently as President at Cobra Safety, a global leader in risk, safety and sustainability practices.
Nisa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson), an Executive Masters of Business Administration from Lang School of Business and Economics from the University of Guelph, had completed a Risk Management Residency Program with the Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Business Administration from Golden Gate University, in addition to several other specialty specific designations.
Nisa volunteers her time as an international partner of a non-profit social enterprise tackling local socio-economic and environmental challenges in developing nations. She does so through implementing challenge-based learning, grassroots innovation and impact venture building.
